When I first started my business coaching practice, I thought speaking was the way to go. I took a training on speaking, made a list of organizations to apply, created a pretty PDF with my presentation offering, followed up, and slowly began to fill my calendar with speaking engagements. 

I began to grow my business little by little, and having success. After 6 months of doing that, however, I was starting to get tired of all the travel.

 So many times I would go present to an audience, only to find out that only a small fraction of the audience were ideal clients. 

And of those who were ideal clients, very few of them were ready. 

It was exhausting. I remember one day sitting and saying "I don’t want to do it any more. It’s too much!" I made about $60,000 in 6 months from new clients, but that was about all I could do. I realized that I was severely capping my potential with just speaking and teaching at off-line events. 

When I realized the power of the ability to build a real connection in the online world, it changed everything for me.
